2.       A 40 mile ride at a faster pace (average 15 to 18 m.p.h.).  If we go east, the destination will be either Menlo via U.S. 24 and C.R. 36 or Cumberland via U.S. 24 and C.R. 27.  If we go west, the destination will be Brewster via U.S. 24 and old U.S. 24 (C.R. Q).

To participate, you should be 15 or older.  You will need to bring a bicycle in working order, a filled water bottle attached to the bike, and a spare inner tube that fits the bike’s tires.  A BICYCLE HELMET IS REQUIRED, and eye protection (sunglasses) is strongly recommended.  The ride leaders will carry tire irons, tire patches, pumps, basic wrenches, and cellphones, but you might bring them yourself if you have them.  We will also have a couple of “sag wagons” on call in case anybody has a breakdown that we can’t fix enroute.  We will provide sport drink mix, energy bars, and fruit at the start and at the destinations.
