Nominated by his son, Kreg Wieck.
My father taught Industrial Arts for 15 years. After it was closed, he traveled between Colby and Oakley in his new field of teaching. During those years, his students won many awards at state contests. He was also the assistant coach for wrestling. He was a big influence on many of the past head coaches hired on at CHS. He knew that he could not take on the head coach job due to his six children and his general contracting company. My father and Jim Pechin owned a company the built many homes around the community. He was always at home basketball games for Coach McCracken; and any time the school needed him, he never turned down the chance to help. After his time at Colby High School, he remarried and moved his family to Colorado. He continued his contracting company in Longmont, Colorado until he retired. Over those years, he always had summer help from Jack McCracken and Keith Ross. Keith was a childhood friend and taught in Atwood. Over time, many past students have come out to Colorado to work on projects in my father's shop for help and more knowledge of the trades. Also, during his time coaching, he had over 12 state champions and one three-time champion who went on to coach at Colby Community College.
